The reputation of the iMac 2020 is not stolen. Designed
for creators and professionals, it excels in photo and video editing tasks
thanks to its dedicated graphics card. Its Retina screen completes the whole
with a high display quality that rivals the best screens on the market. Its
main flaw comes from its lack of versatility because of its orientation which
rejects gaming. Two other versions are available: the 21.5 ”model , less
powerful but more affordable, and the iMac Pro , where excess is allowed.
Dell Inspiron 24 5000 (5400)
If your budget is tight and your tasks are fairly
straightforward, turn to this template. It offers decent power that will suit
the majority of users aiming for office or multimedia use.
The Inspiron 24 reduces the notion of a desktop PC to
its simplest expression by offering an all-in-one solution quite close to what
one might find in a tower. Here, no touch screen or fanciful design, just the
essentials. This allows it to offer correct performance and a neat design which
make it particularly interesting for users aiming for basic use, oriented
towards office automation and multimedia.

How did we make our choice?
The choice of an AIO computer is often determined either
by a lack of space or by the desire for a simple computing solution at home.
The choice of this type of device is not without constraints and it often
happens that the power is limited or the price is exorbitant for mixed results.
To help you determine which models are worthy of your
investment, we have used the following criteria:
The components: this central element is mainly
influenced by the use you are targeting. In the case of an all-in-one computer,
there are generally solutions taken from laptops with, consequently, more
limited power. In the context of standard use, it is advisable to favor a good
processor and a minimum of 8 GB of RAM.
Screen quality: it is the second element that should not
be neglected, as it is so important for your comfort of use. There are two
things to take into account: the diagonal, which depends on your needs, and the
resolution. The latter determines the sharpness of the image and must be
adapted to the chosen diagonal. The anti-reflective coating and maximum
brightness are also worth watching.
Storage : it determines the amount of data, files, that
you can save in your machine. The best compromise is to have an SSD for the
operating system and a classic hard drive for pure storage. In this case, you
benefit from the fluidity provided by the SSD and the attractive cost per GB of
the standard hard drive.
Connection: it allows you to connect the peripherals of
your choice. You must therefore ensure that you have the right ports and in the
right quantity to be able to use the accessories necessary for your use. The
equipment of AIO computers is generally quite complete and the problem comes
rather from the location of these connections.
Updating possibilities : As technology is constantly
evolving, it is increasingly difficult to keep a computer up to date. For the
type of device we are concerned with in this article, it may be useful to
change the amount of RAM or storage. It is therefore necessary to check that
these elements are easily accessible.
After going through many tests carried out on the
Internet, analyzing the technical sheet of each product, consulting the
opinions of French, English or even Dutch-speaking users while ensuring the
legitimacy of these comments, we were able to determine which are the 3 best
all-in-one

The Pavilion 24 is, in our eyes, the best compromise
when looking at AIO desktop computers. As a bonus, it has a touch screen, which
is very useful for creatives and artists.
To manage your various tasks, there is an AMD Ryzen 5
4600H coupled with 8 GB of SO-DIMM RAM. The storage is entrusted to a 512 GB
NVMe SSD and 1 TB 7200 RPM HDD combo. We therefore find the best possible
solution with what is best in both storage technologies. RAM and storage can be
changed after slight disassembly.
The set offers a very good compromise in terms of power
which allows many uses. We just advise against heavy graphics tasks due to the
lack of a dedicated graphics card.
In this case, turn instead to one of its inflated
versions equipped, for the beefier, an i7-10700T, 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1650.
The display itself is quite qualitative. There is a 23.8
”FHD touchscreen IPS panel. The quality of the image is rather good with an
interesting contrast and sufficiently saturated and vivid colors. The maximum
brightness is more than sufficient (250 nits) even if you have to pay attention
to reflections.
Everything is integrated into a box with a refined but
discreet design that allows it to easily integrate into your workspace. It can
be tilted from -5 ° to + 25 ° for an optimal position.
As for laptops , there is a panel of integrated
peripherals. The Pavilion 24 therefore has a Pop-Up webcam of 5 Mp and a
resolution of 1440p. It is also equipped with infrared, useful for Windows
Hello for unlocking. B&O speakers are also planned. They deliver a power of
2 x 5 W and a very good quality.
Of course, a wireless keyboard and mouse are provided.
Their quality is quite basic but they can still be used on a daily basis.
The connection is rather well provided but is mainly
located on the back of the screen. We find: one HDMI 1.4 input and one output,
one USB-C Superspeed (5 Gb / s), four USB-A Superspeed (5 Gb / s), one Gigabit
RJ-45, a 3-in-1 memory card reader and a jack combo. Wireless connectivity is
entrusted to Wifi 5 (2 × 2) and Bluetooth 5.0. Miracast and MU-MIMO
compatibility is also planned.
Apple iMac 27
This iconic model is often considered the best example
of AIO computer. Lovers of productivity will find their account without any
problem thanks to its high performance.

The reputation of the iMac 2020 is not stolen. Designed
for creators and professionals, it excels in photo and video editing tasks. Its
main flaw comes from its lack of versatility because of its orientation which
rejects gaming.
The heart of the apple machine is composed of an Intel
Core i7-10700K, 8 GB of RAM (2666 MHz) in dual channel and a professional
graphics card, the Radeon Pro 5500 XT (8 GB of video memory ).
Everything is designed for productivity by relying on
high computing power and a graphics card designed for image processing. This
allows the iMac to offer great versatility even if gaming is to be avoided.
It's not enough? So go through the Apple site to set up
the perfect machine. In this case, you can integrate an i9-10900K coupled with
a maximum of 128 GB of RAM (2666 MHz) and a Radeon Pro 5700 XT (16 GB of video
memory).
On the storage side, there is a 512 GB SSD. The capacity
can be increased up to a maximum of 8 TB. Unfortunately, the upgrade of this
element is impossible and it is therefore necessary to make sure to choose a
storage module strong enough to answer to your needs.
Connectivity, meanwhile, is usual for an Apple product
with a fairly limited number of ports. We are therefore entitled to only two
USB-C Thunderbolt 3, four USB-A, a Gigabit Ethernet port (10 Gigabit Ethernet
optional) and an SD reader. Wireless connectivity is entrusted to Wi-Fi 6 and
Bluetooth 5.0.
When purchasing, we recommend that you design your
configuration carefully because only the amount of RAM memory can be updated
using SO-DIMM format modules. The processor can, in theory, be changed but
requires a complete dismantling of the machine, which is clearly not within
everyone's reach.
Here, no touch screen or fanciful design, just the
essentials. This allows it to offer correct performance and a careful design
that
The components respond to its entry-level position with
an Intel Core i3-1115G4 coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage in NVMe
(SSD). This makes it particularly interesting for users aiming for basic use,
oriented towards office automation and multimedia.
If you want a little more resources, the more expensive
version is ideal. We find an Intel Core i7-1165G7 with 8 GB of RAM, an Intel
Iris Xe card and a storage consisting of a 512 GB SSD and a 5400 RPM 1 TB hard
drive. This version also offers a touch screen .
The screen of this base model is much simpler with a
non-touch 23.8 ”FHD resolution display. It gives a good general impression even
if the color temperature is a little too cold and the blacks are slightly
washed out.
The case itself is fairly standard but pleasing to the
eye with a decidedly clean and modern style. Its inclination can be changed
from -5 ° to + 25 °. It contains an HD webcam and speakers so the sound quality
is correct even if a lack of bass is to be reported. A wireless keyboard and
mouse are provided but their quality is just basic.
On the other hand, the design of the Inspiron 5400
allows it to be easily upgraded by removing only a few covers to access the RAM
memory or storage.
The connection, finally, consists of a USB-A 2.0 port,
three USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 ports, a USB-C 3.1 gen 2 port, an RJ-45 Gigabit port, an
SD card reader, a combo jack, one HDMI input and one HDMI 1.4 output.
Unfortunately, their position on the back of the device does not make them very
accessible. Wireless side, there are the eternal Wifi 5 (1 × 1) and Bt 5.0.
Honorable mentions
Lenovo Yoga A940 (€ 2,799 at the time of publication):
designed for creatives, this AIO computer is a hybrid between a graphics tablet
and a desktop PC. In this sense, there is a 27 ”IPS 4K touch screen usable in
the easel position. Power is of course at the rendezvous with an Intel Core
i7-8700 coupled with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM, an AMD RX560 graphics card, a 512 GB
NVMe SSD and a 1 TB hard drive.
Microsoft Surface Studio 2 (€ 4,149.99 at the time of
publication): the Studio 2 takes the principle of the Surface Pro by bringing
it to the scale of a full-size computer with a 28 ”screen and a definition of
4500 x 3000 px. We therefore find the same operating principle and
compatibility with the Surface Pen, all complemented by an interesting
configuration, even if it is not very young (i7-7820HQ, GTX1060, 16 GB RAM and
1 TB SSD).
